IMHO, they both target the same market and it comes down to personal
preference (of which, you obviously have't developed yet - so it won't
matter which you choose).

A probably more relevant question would be whether the use Gnome or KDE[2]
for a GUI as this will be much more of a difference for you.

I would recommend try any/all of them unless cost ( less than $20) is
prohibitive.

If you don't like the first one, try the second one :)
