Hi pluggers,
I'm having some intermittent SCSI problems on a dual cpu system.
Backups have hung twice now with the system log being flooded with error
messages eg:
Dec 15 12:21:05 redgum kernel: st0: Error with sense data: [valid=0] Info
fld=0x0, Current st09:00: sense key Illegal Request
Dec 15 12:21:05 redgum kernel: Additional sense indicates Write append
position error
Dec 15 12:21:08 redgum kernel: st0: Error with sense data: [valid=0] Info
fld=0x0, Current st09:00: sense key Illegal Request
Dec 15 12:21:08 redgum kernel: Additional sense indicates Write append
position error
The incremental tape backup seems to have worked but the bru process doing
the writing did not exit.
Have also had many other occassions when error messages have occurred, and
system bus reset, but no obvious malfunctions. (suspicious of a scsi cd
burn failure though, similar sort of scsi related errs occurred during the
burn).
The system is running :
Redhat 6.2, kernel 2.2.18,
m'board Asus P2B-DS, with
bru v 1.1.26 being the software backing up to an
external exabyte Mammoth tape drive. (st0)
The SCSI bus is the onboard adaptec AIC7890 Ultra2.
Anyone suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dave.
