Sorry Matt, should've mentioned that nrtape is a link I created to nts0
(too lazy to change all the Irix scripts that I ported).

The curious thing is that under Irix, a bru write archive command using
the norewind device will write at the start of the tape (exabyte 8500) if
the tape is positioned at the start. But under linux with the mammoth, the
same bit of code appears to be going to the end of data on the tape before
creating the new archive. Hence I was getting several weeks worth of data
on the tape instead of the expected 1 weeks worth, and a full tape!

Easy enough to code around, now that I know.

Thanks for going to the trouble of checking devices.txt etc.

cheers,

Dave.
