That could leave the telnet session open on the box you are telnetting
from (in this case the cisco) depending on whether the OS (IOS in this
case) has a concept similar to SIGHUP.  While it should time out
eventually, it is not good practise to do that, and since you're talking
to the remote SMTP server anyway, it is not so difficult to send "QUIT"
before you down your modem link.
