I think I worked out what happened.

Majordomo adds it's Reply-to: header and deletes any existing Reply-to:'s

When Smartlist sees an existing Reply-to: header it leaves it intact.

As a result, when for example Paul Baumgarten posts to the list, any
replies will go back to him, because he sends a Reply-to: header along
with his message that points back to him.

I guess this means if you send a message to the list and you specifically
want personal replies, you can add a Reply-to: header pointing back at
yourself.
