Thanks Jason, I wasn't aware that there was an XFree plugin to do OpenGL -
will
look into it.

I wonder how performance and feature set would compare with commercial
alternatives. It's a long time back now but I remember trying out MetroX
that came
with RedHat 5.0 and was impressed by its speed (but not its stability and
eventually took it off again). Maybe Xfree86 has caught up in this regard
since then.
