I would suspect Java problems. I've never heard of a Mac baulking at
SSL.

Oddly enough, IE 5.5 for Mac is the most standards-compliant of all of
the above...

Just for a laugh, point KFM (now Konqueror) and/or Lynx at the website
and see what happens.
