G'day Phil

Have you had any luck yet with your sound card. I couldn't see anything
wrong with your module listings. I've also sent my for a comparrison (for
what its worth. You don't explain "not working" - apart from the obvious
meaning of - I get no ssound. There is a gotcha with alsa in that all the
devices are muted. It maybe that you need to use amixer to turn off
muting. Once you've turned muting off and set some default volume
settings you can save them with

/usr/sbin/alsactl save

and restore them at boot time with

/usr/sbin/alsactl restore

which I have put in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

There are a few other places you can try to find out what is happening
with alsa.

What happens when you type

cat /proc/asound/sndstat

As I remember, the /proc/asound directory doesn't get created if alsa
doesn't load and detect cards properly.

As an example of a (mostly) working alsa if i cat
/proc/asound/sndstat i get the following

Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.4.1 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux agepc.dingoblue.net.au 2.2.12 #2 Wed Sep 8 08:59:00 WST 1999

Midi devices:

Hope this Helps
