[plug] Using the "-X" modifier in tar

Mike,
When I do a tar, the system starts normally, and then goes into an
infinite loop with "/dev/fd" filling up the screen. It seems to be doing a
tar on that directory which causes it to create a file, which gets tar'd up
and creates a file....etc..etc.
