Chuckle? Its tragic really. The NT designers started out with such noble
goals, and gradually their design was corrupted by harsh reality and
company politics. (How big is the NT "microkernel" these days?)
Its an interesting comparison to Linux, which started as a quick rehash
of the well-known Unix. Nothing bold, nothing new - totally boring. But we
started using it as a stop-gap until the wonderous shiny, new high-tech
Gnu-Hurd was finished.
Maybe if Hurd had conceded to pragmatism on a few more principles, we
would all be using it now. And if NT team hadnt compromised, a lot more
people would be using the DOS/Win'9x abomination still.
