[plug] [OT] Recovering data from an HP 38G

Hi

Have you tried soft-resetting the calculator? That usually fixes most
problems. To do this you can either:

1. Press ON and comma together
2. Press ON and softkey 3 (the 3rd unlabelled key from the left at the top)
3. Use a paperclip on the reset key thingy at the back.

These *shouldn't* erase any data apart from the home page history.

Alternatively, if you have a PC-calculator cable, I know there is a way
of dumping the entire contents of the memory to computer, and then
running it from a 38G emulator. But I've never tried it so I don't know
if it works....

Anyway, you're probably lucky it happened now while you can do something
about it. In the calculus exam today, the guy sitting next to me had his
calculator die about 15-20 minutes into the exam. That wasn't good.

Hope this helps

Jason :)
