SUCCESS - Thanks matt fuser returned showing nothing restarting nfs also does nothing so decided to stop nfs completely, which did the trick. umounted it before restarting nfs and its now happy. Will have to think of a better way as need to share this cdrom with the other machine which does not have one! BillK
