Somewhat dependent on your desktop environment. If it's raw X (i.e.,
just a window manager), then put 

xwrits &

in your .xsession file, generally somewhere above the line that calls
your window manager. If you're running a desktop environment
(GNOME/KDE), it's a lot easier. Under GNOME, pull up your control
center, and add xwrits to the list under session/Startup programs. I
don't remember what the process is under KDE, but if AFAIR it has a
similar setting in its control panel.
