But the next paragraph of the quote stated, "The range of IP addresses (from
169.254.0.1 through 169.254.255.254) used
for APIPA is reserved by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA)."

Also (and yes, the answer is _proably_ "because they are Microsoft") do
you know WTF didn't MS use one of the private B classes? 172.16.*.* or
something?
