Hi Kai,

I don't know if you've had any off-list help with
this, but I didn't see any other replies, so here's my
2 cents worth.

I've had the same problem on some other machines (not
streaming, just general sound card use), so I went
looking on the kernel mailing list archives about it.

I recall seeing a post (sorry, don't have a URL) from
Alan Cox, from a couple of years ago I think. He said
something to the effect that this is a known Linux
kernel problem, which only affects ISA sound cards.

You might try using a PCI one, and see if that helps.
I haven't had any problems with my current PCI card.
