I'm not entirely sure what they add. You'd have to check with RH
themselves - might be on their website somewhere. Usually they add things
like better cyrix processor support, the latest NFS patches, (in the case
of Mandrake) reiserfs support etc. Basically any patches they feel are
useful to a large audience, but which have not met official Linus-approval
You may even find the latest RH kernel already has the IDE patch
installed, in which case you could just download their sources (or even
their kernel binary) and be done with it.
Where's the fun in that though? *grin*
