Yes there is such a thing and that would be it. Periodically empty it or
you'll end up with a mess - NOTE: toner is (or at least was) carcinagenic.

Sounds like a wiper blade not doing its job properly - If the ghost is
the circumference of the drum then thats it. You can replace wiper blades
_but_ they can be quite difficult
