[plug] No net traffic with heavy IDE usage

	interesting

Depending on the machine specs and setup of your software, it may be
'normal' for it to do this, in that the cd burning software must keep a
constant flow of data to the writer.

You could try setting the harddrive to DMA mode (it is IDE?) and see
if that frees up the processor a bit.

Ill do the normal thing and ask: more info? hardware, distro, what
cd burning software you using etc

	Hi list,

When i'm burning a CD (reading from or writing to), the hard drive
is
thrashing under swap or just generally with heavy disk usage, all
internet traffic stops until there is a pause in disk usage. I've
been
running Debian (unstable) for about a year now, pretty sure it
didn't
	happen under Redhat 5.2/6.0.

Anyone have any ideas what might cause this?

	Thanks

	Nigel
