There is no output of the command (drive/cpu activity for a moment
and then I get returned to the prompt) I won't bother sending the
/var/log/messages because the last 100 lines were just along the
lines of:

I have attempted to run apache from the command line and run the
/etc/init.d/apache start and tried to use the apachectl script to
start them. They all show the same result.
Output from /etc/init.d/apache which calls apachectl is boring usual
text but here it is anyway.

Starting web server: apache.
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd started

After checking the /var/log/apache/error.log some things came up
(don't know why I didn't think to check it before)

[Fri Aug 24 11:29:47 2001] [warn] pid file /var/run/apache.pid
overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Fri Aug 24 11:29:48 2001] [emerg] Your kernel was built without
CONFIG_SYSVIPC
apache: Please consult the Apache FAQ for details
[Fri Aug 24 11:29:48 2001] [emerg] (38)Function not implemented:
could not call shmget

Looks like I'm missing a kernel bit, any idea what CONFIG_SYSVIPC is
and why my kernel would be lacking it?

Paul
