why not just mv the /etc/X11/XF86Config to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 an then
create a symolic link /etc/X11/XF86Config for /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 that
way the nvidia drivers can find the file they want and the XFree
configuration just follows the link
