Did you search the archives? This question has been discussed before.
Basically the entry in your /etc/fstab file is pointing to the wrong
filesystem for your root filesystem. If you know what filesystem your
root fs should be on then you can pass this as a parameter to LILO:
"linux root=/dev/hdXY"
Then fix your /etc/fstab file for future reboots.
If the machine was booting before then you probably have changed the
disks in the system around. Alternately its possible that the disk has
died.
