The line Peer is not authorized to use remote address... is a classic
symptom of pppd having the auth flag rather than the noauth flag in its
options... check /etc/ppp/options
The auth flag will require that the remote host (the ISP) authenticate
themselves TO YOU, which as far as I know will not happen with any ISP's
around here... :) Unless you want to start giving your ISP a password
and account on your machine... *grin*
As for the unsupported protocol I am not sure about that one... but take
it one step at a time...
