Hello Ari,

I had the same problem when I first started working with Linux. It took me
some time to realise that even though I had set the system for 800X600 it
was starting up in a lower res. Use Xconfigurator (I think that is how it is
spelled) to fix the problem... 
Anyway I used L.A.M.E. to help me through this area have a look at:
