[plug] samba stuff

hi there,

okay i'm running linux on my main computer with the windows partitions
mounted on /mnt/c, /mnt/d and /mnt/e. the uid and gid of the mount
partitions are set to the same uid and gid of the other computer which
accesses the shared partitions on this main computer.

ie. /mnt/c, /mnt/d and /mnt/e have uid/gid "user1" and the other computer
which logs on to this main computer via samba uses the guest account which
i've also set to be "user1" in the smb.conf file. this was because i
needed write access to these partitions from the other computer.

so from the other computer i can access the shared partitions and
read/modify existing files. the problem now is that i cannot *create* new
files on the shared partitions from the other computer....it still says
access denied. in the smb.conf file i've specified writable=yes, guest
only=yes and public=yes.

i don't understand why i can modify existing files but not create new
files. could somebody shed some light?

thanks for your help.

cheers,
evan
