[plug] Creating a user account

When I installed RH6.0, I chose custom which did not ask me to create a user account other than root. Now I am trying commands like adduser[which worked on another distro that I played around awhile ago] but nothing seems to do it. I had a look at linuxconf but nothing obvious regarding user account creation is there.  Is there a rpm that makes this process easier ? Or must I edit conf files to achieve this ?
