Oops! Commiserations. I have a zmov based spike-clipper on my modem phone line
which seems to have saved my modem-bacon through a few electrical storms - but
then, who can tell??

Don't know about the rebadging (I haven't boithered to pop the tops) but I've
installed a couple of Acers for friends and they've been flawless. My
brother has had similar good experiences with Mitsubishi. My experiences
with Netcom have been variable, tending toward the painful side, however YMMV.
