Check your firewall.

Redhat 7.1 sets up a firewall during the install; however, by default, it
doesn't give ppp0 any access through the firewall.

If you use rp3 (the gnome ppp dialer), and check the logs, there is a line
to the effect of `tunnelling through firewall'; however, kppp hasn't been
set up to do the same.

If you run setup, you can customise the firewall, and add the device ppp0 to
the exception list. This should allow ppp0 to contact the outside world.

Hope this helps,
