[plug] Weird keyboard, laptop, Mandake 8.0

Yup, tried this.  It is the same script that harddrake uses.  I've also
tried to run it as alan, same affect.  

I've tried to toggle between US and intenational, but that has no affect
either.  I going to have to bite the bullet and blow away my gnome
settings.  *sigh*
