[plug] PHP compilation

I installed PHP4/Apache/Postgresql in about 30 mins on the weekend,
just using 'apt-get install' (Thanks for the tip guys! and yes! dselect does
blow hot chunks!)

I can now code in PHP4, and have started work on my own common
library.

If this is a production box, sure, play with source. If its a 'learn
and play' box as mine is, just install from packages.

The whole install involved 1 manual step, uncommenting the line in
apache.conf that loads the php module :)

My girlfriend couldnt understand why I was so happy that I could
make an ugly little table appear with stuff in it like 'AAA' 'Bat Dog' and
'123' 'efhejnfej' :) But women are like that :)

	Subject:	[plug] PHP compilation

I have been playing around with PHP4 compilation as I normally just
use the
	default debian package.

Everything goes well, once finished the libphp4.so file required for
apache
is no where to be found,
all I have that looks useful is:

	-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9487630 Mar 25 21:23 libphp4.a

Can this be converted to a .so file for use with apache or can this
.a file
	be used by apache through
	some means I am unaware?

.. and yes, I have spent about 4 hours reading posts on the web to
no avail.

	Thanks,

	Ryan
