[plug] Free CD linux - any good ?

The main issue you will have is that the Mandrake distro is specifically
compiled and optimised for Pentium class processors and above. It actually
states in the system requirements that 486's are not supported.

Apart from that, the CD is OK. It has been updated since the original
Mandrake 7.2 release with newer KDE, etc. The only thing is that it only has
the one CD. If you want the second extensions CD with the optional extras,
you will need to download it, or get it off someone.

Hope this helps.

Dennis.

Hi all,

Have just bought 'pc world' and it has a cd with mandrake 7.2
and kde 2.0.1 (Sorry to confess I bought the mag for the other
cd for games for the lids <sigh>)

Can I use this cd without much reservation to set up linux on
an amd 486dx133, 2g hd, 64MB ram ?

Rgds

mike
