Following a recent post about getting a TV card to work, you could look
at a TV card which has video input as well as the antenna input (mine
has) and plug a half-decent camera (eg from Allthings) into it.  You get
a choice of lenses and much better resolution than standard webcams. 
Though you do of course end up with a larger frame size.
