You could try putting a cleaning tape through.  Ours seems to reject
tapes and do something different with the LEDs when it wants a clean -
seems to be something the drive knows about, and probably a reboot
fixes!  Of course our labours under Not Terrific software . .

(never really looked what it does with LEDs - if the cleaning tape
doesn't fix it I guess it goes back to te suppliers . .)
