I cannot get IP forwarding to work.
I have two machines pappo1 (linux) and pappo (windozeME) on 192.168.0.2
and 192.168.0.1 respectively.
My linux gateway (redhat 7.1 system Linux 2.4.2-2 kernel) has a "1" in
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward and it is also in
However when I try to ping from my windoze machine to a web address,
this is what I see on tcpdump:
tcpdump: listening on eth0
13:20:33.761828 < pappo > dns1.tpgi.com.au: icmp: echo request
13:20:34.381828 B pappo.bootpc > 255.255.255.255.bootps: xid:0x78563412
secs:10752 flags:0x8000 [|bootp]
13:20:38.061828 < pappo > dns1.tpgi.com.au: icmp: echo request
13:20:39.111828 B pappo.2869 > 192.168.0.255.2869: udp 172
13:20:42.061828 < pappo > dns1.tpgi.com.au: icmp: echo request
13:20:46.561828 < pappo > dns1.tpgi.com.au: icmp: echo request
13:21:37.241828 B pappo.bootpc > 255.255.255.255.bootps: xid:0x78563412
secs:10752 flags:0x8000 [|bootp]
13:21:41.971828 B pappo.2869 > 192.168.0.255.2869: udp 172
8 packets received by filter
I can access the web, through the gateway, with Internet Explorer from
the WinME machine, but mail or ping or tracert doesn't work from the
windoze machine??
Any ideas ??
