Are you using XFree86 3.x or 4.x ? The following is for XFree86 4.x but it's
almost the same for 3.x:

Open /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Look for the word "FontPath" if it's set to
something like "unix/:7000" then you're using a font server, otherwise there
would likely be multiple entries for each font directory.

If using a font server (XFS most likely since it comes with) then read:

	http://www.linux.org.au/LDP/HOWTO/mini/FDU/

If you are not using a font server then read although the above also applies
just as well:

	http://www.linux.org.au/LDP/HOWTO/mini/TT-XFree86.html
