[plug] Hardware: RAM questions

Ummmm.... lets see.

Perth prices were obtained through Simms International (One of the major
memory suppliers here) and through Informed Technolgy. Both supplied prices
of between $430 and $480 per 512Mb stick of Kingston PC100 ECC CAS2 (In fact
one of the prices was for CAS3 which should have been cheaper still!)...

The US prices were obtained by simply going to the kingston site
(www.kingston.com) selecting the correct RAM for the Intel ISP 2150 (512Mb)
clicking on the add to cart button - then attempt to purchase online. It
transfers you to one of a few different retailers (none of which actually
sell internationally - but I have people in the US that could pick it up for
me and mail it.)

The usual price for this stuff is between US$65 and US$85. Which I can say I
was very annoyed at. Why should our prices be so different? (Other than the
fact that they are made in the US...) Anyhow it appears to be the same stuff
(same model number etc.) It was at one of these sites I noticed that the
price for 133Mhz of the same specs was available for only a couple of
dollars more.

Amusing eh?

BTW, does anyone know of a good book on linux server configuration... just
to make sure we take everything into consideration!
