[plug] a kde question

Hi guys,
       apologies in advance for what may be a very
trivial problem.

I cant get many kde menu items to work ie. nothing happens when 
I click on them. When I look in properties it says something like 
        kcontrol -caption "%c" %i %m

what are these % things? if I remove the %i %m it works, but what is
the idea of a application with a titlebar saying 
"%c" -- which is what I get.

Also -- if I it try the command  
                kcontrol -caption "%c" %i %m
in an xterm I get an error message -- where do the 
error messages go when I try to satrt it through the GUI?
