That's what I thought. The problem I occasionally have (and Rob appears
to also be having) involves the display crashing such that the display
and keyboard driver aren't reset even if you kill the X server.

I've been using the machine for 3 years without *any* problems under
Linux at all. It's only in the last 6 months or so that there has been
any unreliability which strongly points to software being the cause of
the problem.
