[plug] Linux Friendly ISP's in Perth - support for ISDN and VoIP

Hi ya all,

Well since it's been a while since you last heard from me I feel I need to
offer some explanation for my absence and hopefully clear up any confusion
about my subject line. My intention here is not to start a flame war but
just to get some information on ISP usage in Perth for when I return. As
some of you know I have spent the last year in West Africa and this has left
me a little out of touch with the ISP scene in Perth. The ISP I was with
previous has since been sold and I wish to pursue other alternatives. What I
am looking for is:

1. A Linux supporting ISP who I can recommend business to (I am a
consultant).
2. Support for ISDN onramp connections.
3. Support for VoIP (so ISDN calls are only charged at local voice call
rates instead of at data call rates).
4. Reasonably priced rates for semi permanent/permanent connection (i.e. a
good part of the day ~14-16 hours or all day). And preferably with a
high/unlimited download allowance.

For the sake of bandwidth for the list can you please send replies directly
to me (mailto:mhunt at oddsocks.net) and only post to the list if you feel it
would be beneficial to everyone. At the moment I can't access my mailbox
that gets my plug mail as it is too full (that's what happens when you don't
read your plug mail for 2 months), and the connection speed I have here in
PNG is too slow. (I traded in the sun and sand of the Sahara for the surf
and trees of PNG. I felt I needed a holiday. My apologizes to anyone who is
feeling cold down there in Perth).

Well I hope to catch up with people at the plug meeting when I get back in a
couple of weeks.

Sincerely,

Michael Hunt

P.S. I would be interested in any recommendations on ISDN internal or
external gear that works with Linux.

P.P.S. I am interested in ADSL/cable but I feel the download
limits/reliability of the service at the moment maybe a problem. I'm not
sure if it is available in Kelmscott yet.
