It does. To make my Sony DSC-F505 camera work, I do:

     modprobe usb-storage   (once, actually it's in rc.local now)

     (u)mount /dev/sda1     (for each use)

I've added ``/dev/sda1 /mnt/camera vfat ro,user 0 0'' to /etc/fstab to 
save typing.
