Ctrl-Alt-Backspace will violently axe your X server (ie shut down graphics 
mode temporarily). Ctrl-Alt-Del when not in graphics mode will generally 
reboot the machine nicely. Look in /etc/inittab to see exactly what your 
Ctrl-Alt-Del does.
