Is it just the slang term "Rooted" thats the problem?

If thats the case, this is a Linux Mailing list. Linux has american
roots (scuse the pun, not really intended here). An american company ..

www.autorooter.com

its a plumming company.

However, we are in Australia, and we all know the term "rooted" has some
double meaning here. But I think its a bit far fetched to even think
about getting offended at someone who was obviously pretty
unhappy/stressed/etc at the time. Lets look at the context again - he
just found out his box had been hacked. Lets get back on track, learn
from his mistakes (since that is what we are communicating for, I
think?) and help him solve his problem etc etc etc .. and stop wondering
about little things. Maybe thats something that should be discussed off
list. And I for one would be pretty pissed off (as I think David was at
the time of writing the original offending letter) and the fact that we
are have.. lets see... 12 replies, of which maybe *3* have actually been
helpful to David.. other than to say "hey, dont abuse us!".

really, children. In terms of our perceived ability to host
conferences.. if we are going to get hung up on "acceptabilities" of
language, thats more of a bad point in the end I think. Linux is still a
technical and hands-on OS. Most of us here are technical people. We come
here to discuss technical things to do with Linux. IMHO, which you may
choose to ignore, I really dont care - I could care less about
languages, and I would really like to see some positive and constructive
criticism and feedback towards assisting David and making sure the
originating problem never occurs to any of us..

And as for the humour involved, well, I'd be using a lot stronger
language myself, and I really wish I had some form of constructive
advice for David, but I am probably at the same or lower level of
experience that he is at, and my own security could probably do with
some scrutiny. Probably applies to most of us here ;)

oh yeah, the humour. Hey, start up a formal_plug at plug.linux.org.au
somewhere, for now, I think its the industry standard for Technical
people to be casual etc etc.. leave all the formalities for management
puuuhlease.

my 2c, although most people with any sense are ignoring yet another mail
in this saga.

so can we get with the program now?
