There are graphical WAV editors out there you can use to trim WAV files.

I used to use Wordpad under Windoze to directly edit MP3s. From memory, you 
copy the first two bytes of the file, being the marker between frames. Page 
down (or up if you're trimming the end of the file), then search for the next 
2 byte frame marker. Hilight, and Delete. Voila! Trimmed MP3!

Used to use it a lot when I had a CD-ROM drive that used to pop/click at the 
end of audio tracks when ripping.
