Yep you could run a script to copy 'squid/cache'.
Plug in your temp connection run script and then restart squid.
But the problem is squid looks for a live network connection to get
requests, you will need to some fudging of the .conf file to achieve
what you want to do. So squid will just give you the cached pages
instead of go looking and then timeout and then give you the pages.
May I ask why there is no 'permanent' connection between the student and
staff networks?
Surely you can plug in a hub and a second nic in the staff sever and a
nice tight iptables firewall.
Or is more of a location thingy...
