Thanks for your advice.

Used gftp last night, to upload to a third box from RH 6.2, then down to 
my RH 7.3 box (we could not get ftp to work directly between the two 
boxes).

I could not get it to copy the directory (probably due to my lack of 
experience using it), but selected all files within the directory, and 
it merrily did the transfer of about 100MB, in about 3-5 minutes each 
way.

It made it much easier than using command-line ftp.
