I think I will go with php. It looks like just the thing. Not too
hard. I like that. One minor wrinkle though- I need to upload/
download files to/ from the database. This requires file dialog boxes &
so on. Does this mean I am better off developing a small applet with
Java?

Hey, why stop at the bed. Perhaps I should purchase winXP Pro, IIS, SQL
server and develop the entire thing with tools from a reputable vendor
that is trustworthy. I know they are because they say it all the time.
This obviously means they are proactive when it comes to security
patches, make an effort to notify me when a vulnerability is found and
so on. Perhaps I should even ask them to automatically update my system
with whatever they think is needed. After all, a trustworthy vendor
would obviously have a proven track record at looking after my
interests.
