Maybe it isnt.  I've just heard so many bizarre stories about the aptly 
called "looney" section of the left in Britain (particularly wrt local 
county or borough gov't) that I blame any bizzare rules on them.

I have lots of respect for plenty of lefties - say Peter Berner or Michael 
More :-)  ("Bowling for Columbine" is well worth seeing)

In this case, the parents seem to have revolted and got the teacher to 
resign.

I guess so. I know plenty of liberals detest PC as much as anyone.
