The thought of foreseeable consequences is a pretty strong disincentive to
misbehaviour. It unfortunately, does not cross the mind of many of our youth,
because we have been PC'd to death.
Where the consequences are obvious, the behaviour is well, different.
As an example, how much of a risk is there that the Coffin Cheater clubhouse
will get broken into by the local druggies? If it's not zero, we are talking
about a very small number.. Why is that? Maybe the stupidity will be rewarded
with a early and very private burial. Maybe just the kneecaps.
I don't agree with the Coffin Cheaters life outside the law. I think the
tractors they ride around are monuments to ludditism. I think their
consumption of substances legal and illegal to be pretty silly. But I respect
their right to defend themselves. I know when the CC member was attacked by
the local Aboriginals at the Medina Tavern a few years ago, the subsequent
cleanout has made it a safe place to go for a drink.. It is not a "bikie
pub", but guys and girls in leathers sometimes drink there.
For me too, once the gloves come off, they stay off until the matter is
sorted. If we don't have the willingness to take them off to defend the
castle, we might as well deliver the keys.
Some of the things the US does are very selfish. This goes for trade policy
probably more than defence policy. They have been known to read the future
wrongly and back the odd despot. But as individuals, we all make mistakes.
They are no different.
Now, before replying to this, think about the points, rather than try to
dismantle each sentence. If that means sitting down and really thinking about
a view which may not agree with yours, I heartily recommend it.
Gee, there really isn't much linux on at the moment, is there? 8^)==
And have a peaceful New Year. Really.
Garry.
