Chris,
I got mine to work.. I'm a Debian newbie, so I was pretty happy with that ;)

Did it about a week or so ago, and yeh - there is a line you need to add to
your lilo.conf and then just cd /dev ; rm cdrom && ln -s scd0 cdrom

But I too, could read fine with it without having to do any configuration -
Debian picked it up fine as a normal CD reader.

Thats using a 40x12x40x LiteON
