Yes.

If it's not installed, or broken, yes.

Grab portmap-4.0-17mdk.i586.rpm from Mandrake 8.0 disk 1 (under 
/mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS)

Then as root user, do rpm -Uvh portmap-4.0-17mdk.i586.rpm
