Sorry, potato is 2.2.x kernel so ipchains only.

I have found pmfirewall that seems to do the trick :). All I need to do
now is come to grips with bind (8's the only choice at the moment)
however, for those that are interested, that may be academic. I've found
a public DNS at  http://soa.granitecanyon.com/ I may not even bother
running bind now.
